Whether your
cat is ill, in for a senior check up, or needs preanesthesia bloodwork,
we can run the necessary bloodwork in-hospital or ‘in-house’.
A complete blood count (CBC) together with a general health blood
chemistry profile and a urinalysis, gives your doctor volumes
of information about your cat’s health.
You will receive copies of your cat's results for your records. Click here to view our "cheat sheet" of the meanings of each test.
Our in-house laboratory and licensed veterinary technicians are equipped to run the following:
- Full blood chemistries: Organ function: liver, kidneys, blood sugar, proteins, etc.
- Electrolytes: Balances of the body's important electrolytes.
- Complete blood count: Red and white blood cell counts, and platelets.
- Manual differential: Counts the different types of white blood cells.
- Urinalysis: Evaluates kidney function, screens for urine crystals, urinary tract infections, and diabetes.
- Feline leukemia/FIV/Hearworm test: Results for these important tests in minutes.
- Ear and cellular cytology: Screens for ear infections, ear mites, and looks for abnormal cells.
- Fecal screening: Looks for intestinal parasites (worms).
- Fungal culture: Checks for ringworm.
We also employ a network of specialty outside laboratories to run specialized tests, such as:
- Thyroid: Sent to Michigan State University
- PLI (intestinal absorption/pancreatitis test): Sent to Texas A&M University
- Allergy panels: Sent to Veterinary Allergy Reference Laboratory
- Cultures, biopsies, and other testing: Sent to Idexx Reference Laboratory
